KINGS MOUNTAIN- Irene Wood Bernstein, born on February 21, 1947, in Buffalo, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, in Kings Mountain at the age of 78. Her life was a testament to the power of love, family, and an unyielding passion for the things she believed in.
A woman of remarkable sincerity and honesty, Irene was genuine in every sense of the word. Her interests reflected her vibrant personality—whether she was piecing together intricate puzzles, creating dazzling works of diamond art, or delighting in a hearty meal shared with loved ones, Irene lived with enthusiasm and a zest for life. She was a true animal lover, always finding joy and comfort in their companionship.
Irene's curiosity about the world was boundless; she was fascinated by conspiracy theories and enjoyed spirited discussions that challenged the mind. Yet, above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, where her heart truly resided.
She was an attendee of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, where she found community and spiritual nourishment. Her faith was a guiding light, offering her strength and solace throughout her life's journey.
Preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Marcus Wood and Josie Rippy Wood, her daughter Linda Bolin, granddaughter Chasity Llewellyn, and numerous brothers and sisters, Irene leaves behind a family imbued with her spirit and warmth.
Her memory is cherished by her surviving son George Bolin and his wife Ginny, daughters Sherry Terry and her husband Paul, and Samantha Hinson and her husband Steve. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren, Josh Marcum, Victoria Sain, Steven Bolin, Layla Bolin, and Zoe Bolin, and her precious great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Zaya.
Irene Wood Bernstein will be remembered as a beacon of love and authenticity, an extraordinary woman who lived each moment with purpose and grace. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
