Irene Durham Brim was born in Williamsburg, KY, August 26, 1935. She was the youngest of six siblings. She graduated from Woodbine High School near Corbin, Kentucky. As a young adult she moved to Indianapolis, IN, where she met her husband, Nolan R. Brim. They were married on May 25, 1956, and raised their family together in Indianapolis.
Irene was a homemaker during the years that her children were growing up. Later she went to work at Fort Benjamin Harrison where she served as a pay clerk for the military for twenty years. She and Nolan retired in 1997 and moved to Dunlap, TN.
In Indianapolis she was an active member of Burge Terrace Baptist Church where she served as the head of the nursery department. Caring for babies was something she loved to do. After moving to Tennessee she was an active member of Mile Straight Baptist Church in Soddy Daisy, TN where she participated in many of their ministries.
Irene was devoted to her family. She and Nolan hosted family gatherings especially around the holidays for many years. She was an excellent cook and served many meals to be enjoyed around their dining room table. She loved playing all sorts of games with her family, and she really enjoyed winning, remaining competitive throughout her life.
Irene created a home with Nolan that was a place of love and laughter throughout the span of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Nolan Brim, daughters Pam (Phil) Kiper and Penny (David) Winget, all of Dunlap, Tennessee, daughter Nancy (Rick) Couch of Orange Beach, Florida, and son Ray (Pattie) Brim of Denver, Colorado.
She was very proud of her grandchildren: Kathryn (Brandon Germany) Kiper, Will (Cassidy) Kiper, Jenny (Jim) Weisert, Rachele (Kris) Bruu, Ben Brim, Joe (Meghan) Brim, Rayanne (Zach) Del Hierro, Nathanael (Bethany) Winget, Andy (Cara) Winget, Rebbekkah (Harley) Blanton, Katie Couch.
She has also left behind a host of great grandchildren, many who will never know her but will nonetheless continue her legacy of putting good into the world.
