Irene Burrus, 110, passed away on August 5, 2025, in Alexandria, Virginia. She was born April 5, 1915, in Madison County, Kentucky to Edgar and Amanda Jones Burrus.

After graduating from Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College (now EKU), she moved to Alexandria, Virgina, where she was employed throughout her career by the U.S. Federal Government. Irene was keenly interested in politics and current events and attributed her long life to travel and remaining active.

Irene was preceded in death by two brothers: Bailey Burrus and Ray Burrus, and three sisters: Velma Perkins, Ruby Burrus and Mary Alice Burrus. She will be buried alongside family in the Richmond Cemetery.

A graveside service for Miss. Burrus will be held at 10:00 AM Monday morning, August 18, 2025, in the pavilion of the Richmond Cemetery. Pastor David Evans of the Corinth Christian Church officiating.
