Irene Ruth Cehr

Irene Ruth Cehr (née Campbell) passed away peacefully at her home on July 16, 2025, at the age of 103 in Pontiac, Michigan. Irene was born on February 8, 1922, in Armada, Michigan to Gordon Campbell and Dorothy Chamberlin. She was the beloved wife of 64 years to John, mother, grandmother and friend.

Irene was a dedicated homemaker, devoting her life to caring for her husband, John, and two daughters, Sandra Kay Cehr and Cheryl Lee (Cehr) Karolak. She was known for her exceptional sewing skills for herself and her family.

In her youth, Irene attended Armada High School, graduating with the Class of 1941. She married John the following year. Irene and her husband were avid dancers and travelled most weekends to dance with their friends, twice they traveled in Europe with the Marv Herzog polka band, sightseeing by day and dancing into the nights.

Irene will be fondly remembered by her grandsons, Scott (Joann) Zimmer and Michael (Lisa) Zimmer, who were a great source of pride in her life. Along with the pets she shared with her daughters.

Visitation to honor Irene will be held at the Tiffany-Young-Hauss-Modetz Chapel, in Armada, Michigan. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and share memories on Sunday, July 20th, between the hours of 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Internment will follow on Monday morning at the West Berlin Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Irene's memory may be made to the Berlin Township Senior Center, an organization that held a special place in her and John's heart as founding members.

Irene will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and dedication to her family and friends will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
