Irene M. Getman

Irene M. Getman, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2025, at the age of 85, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born on January 4, 1940, in Waltham, Massachusetts, Irene was the cherished daughter of the late Francis and Rose (Smith) Getman. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward Getman and John Getman and his wife Sheila, as well as her beloved son, Alfonso Panzera.
Irene is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Donna Pasquarosa, and husband, Carl Pasquarosa; her son, John Medaglia, and his wife, Denise Medaglia; her grandchildren, Nick Panzera, Ashley Panzera, Gino Pasquarosa, Dominique Vachon, Juliana Pasquarosa, John Medaglia Jr., Derian Medaglia, Sheridan Medaglia, and Dexter Medaglia. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Giuliano Vachon, Wesley Marshall and Arlo Panzera. Irene leaves behind many adoring nieces and nephews, including Edward Getman, John Getman, Paul Getman, Mary Netto, Kathy Kalesti, Ann Getman, Shad Nathan, Elaine Stern, Dana Getman, and Irene "Renie" Getman, and her sister-in-law Cheryll Getman.
A lifelong resident of Waltham and formerly of Newton, Irene dedicated many years of service to Little, Brown & Company before her retirement. She will be remembered as a determined, spirited woman who found joy in music, cherished her friendships, and treasured time with her family. Irene also had a deep love for animals, and her faithful dog, Maggie, was her loyal companion for many years.
Family and friends are warmly invited to honor Irene's life at her Celebration of Life service, which will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 11:30 AM in the Chapel at Newton Cemetery. Following the service, all are welcome to gather in remembrance at Paparazzi in Wellesley from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.
