Irene M. Halapy

Age 92, of South Park, formerly of Squirrel Hill and Weirton, WV.; passed peacefully on Thursday, December 10, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Halapy; loving stepmother of Linda Stankiewicz; dear sister of the late Joseph Szramowski; and adored friend of the late Ruth "Cookie" Savitz. Also survived by the Szramowski and Ozimek families. Irene was a born caretaker, in both her personal and professional life. She spent her life caring for others. She enjoyed taking and collecting family photographs, and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. One for her proudest moments was witnessing game 7 of the 1969 World Series at Forbes Field. Recently she never missed a South Park High School soccer, basketball, or track event. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends. No visitation. All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Mount Church. Interment in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Arrangements by BEINHAUERS, Dormont (412 531-4000).
