Irene Keen

Mary Irene Keen, age 98, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 5, 2025. She was born November 13, 1927, in Woodward, Oklahoma, the middle daughter of three girls born to Mary B. Bronniman Ring and Rufis Ring.
Irene and her sisters became orphans when Irene was 12 years old and despite difficulties, Irene's life was a testament to God's goodness. From an early age Irene learned the value of hard work and even in her late nineties constantly asked what she could do to help.
She married Dewey Keen in 1945 and together they raised five children in the Oklahoma City area. Active members of Grace Assembly of God Church, Irene volunteered in children's church and youth group. Irene worked beside Dewey in his home building business endeavors, hanging wallpaper, cleaning windows, sewing drapes, and hanging window treatments in newly built houses. A selfless and devoted mother to her five children, she took them to church gatherings, sports events, ran the household and prepared meals, all while modeling and fostering a biblical moral compass and strong work ethic in them. Irene relied on the Holy Spirit to lead her in the best way to nurture and guide each of her children.
Irene was creative and enjoyed painting, crafting and gardening. She was an avid domino and rook player.
Words cannot express the depth of gratitude her children have to God for blessing them with such a mother. Heaven truly welcomes a treasure.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dewey Keen, her parents, and sister Jacquelyn Knuth.
She is survived by daughter Rhonda Barcum and husband Robert of OKC; and sons Ronald and wife Judy of Jacksboro, TX; Jimmy of Mustang, OK; Terry of Mustang, OK; and Robert Dewey, Jr. and wife Diana of West Monroe, LA; one sister Norma Lee Olney of Edmond, OK; and 9 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren.
