Gary Keen Obituary

He was affectionately known as "Uncle Gary" to many beyond his biological family. Gary was a beacon of friendliness, always ready with a warm greeting or a helping hand. He is survived by his nephew, Jason (Dana) Keen; niece, Pearlee Frye-Keen; great-nieces Alexus, Mercedez, Haven, Heidi, Arika, Jenna, Alyssa, Amanda, and Hannah; and great-nephew, Kaden. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Jimmy Keen, whose memories he held close to his heart.
Gary's adventurous spirit led him to the skies as a young man, where he experienced the thrill of skydiving. His love for adrenaline-pumping activities was also evident in his passion for stock car racing at Mottville Speedway. He was a familiar face at the track, sharing his enthusiasm and camaraderie with fellow racing fans.
A proud member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Dowagiac, Gary exemplified the organization's values of people helping people. He was a fixture in the local pubs and pool leagues, where his sportsmanship and friendly competition were memorable.
In his final years, Gary faced cancer with the same courage and positivity that characterized his entire life. His battle was fought with grace and the support of those who loved him. Fulfilling his last wish, Gary donated his body to science, hoping to contribute to the betterment of others even after his passing.
He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who had the pleasure of knowing him. The memories he created will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and the community that was fortunate enough to be touched by his generous soul.
There will be a celebration of life for Gary on November 30, 2025, from 6-8 pm at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Dowagiac. 101 E. Railroad St. Dowagiac, MI 49047. Palmer Funeral Home - Hoven Chapel is assisting the family.
