Irene was born on May 1, 1931, in Kit Carson County, Colorado to Sam & Mae Morrow. She attended Kit Carson Public Schools and graduated from Burlington High School in 1949.
After graduation, Irene attended nursing school in Colorado Springs. It was there that she met Frank Martin. They married soon after and moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas where Frank was stationed.
To this union, 2 children were born: Carolyn Martin and Scott Zale Martin.
In 1959, the family moved to Denver, Colorado and Frank was then deployed to Korea and later stationed in Germany.
Irene began working as a billing clerk for a large trucking company. Frank returned from Germany a few years later to rejoin the family.
After 20 years of marriage, Irene and Frank divorced.
Irene met William Lytle (Bill) while taking dance lessons at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Denver. They married in September 1977 and Bill moved into Irene's home in Arvada, Colorado.
They stayed in Colorado for many years and enjoyed what they loved: playing golf, ballroom dancing, dinner theater, dining and traveling. Upon retirement, they built a new home in Burlington, across the street from her Father, Sam Morrow.
Irene took a part-time job at the E-Free Church in Burlington. She enjoyed her work at the Church and stayed for 16 years.
Bill passed away in 2013 and Irene continued to donate her time to numerous quilt guilds, the senior center and her part-time job at the Church.
Irene loved to sew and make biscuits & gravy for others. She especially enjoyed serving biscuits & gravy to the Men's Group from the Church and continued to do this for many years. She was said to have the best biscuits & gravy in town and even had a sign in her kitchen that said so!
Irene is survived by her son, Scott Martin and brothers Darrell, Eldon and Jay Morrow. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Martin, her husband Bill Lytle and her parents, Sam & Mae Morrow.
She will be missed.
