Edwine Lytle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wing Mortuary - Lehi on Jan. 26, 2026.
Edwine Jean Lytle, age 92, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away peacefully at her home on January 18, 2026.

Edwine was born in Orlando, Florida to Edwin Eugene Lytle and Luella Marie Christine Alghrim Lytle on January 19, 1933.

She retired after years as a bookkeeping expert, working for several well-known retail organizations. Her career included positions with the Kresge Company in Florida, The May Company in Los Angeles, and Skaggs Alpha Beta, and Granite Furniture in Utah. She was known for her diligence, organization, and strong work ethic.

Never married and without children of her own, Edwine devoted her life to family in the ways that mattered most. Her niece, Victoria Lee Meeks Pope, was her family in every sense of the word. Edwine was an integral and loving presence in the lives of Vicki and her five children, deeply involved in their daily lives and milestones. She also cherished her relationship with her nephew, Gary Lance Meeks, and his family.

Edwine lived with deep faith and purpose. She loved animals, reading, and serving in her community. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints while living in Florida. She loved teaching in her church callings and was especially remembered for her teachings in Sunday School and Relief Society. A faithful ministering sister, Edwine served others quietly and consistently.

Twenty-one years ago, Edwine moved to the Escalante Park Apartments, where she felt prompted to serve in her local church branch. Her quiet service and faithful presence left a lasting impact on those around her.

A remarkable testament to her strength, Edwine was a 24-year survivor of kidney cancer. She took great care to protect her remaining kidney, often noting that she avoided pain medication for that reason. She ultimately passed due to kidney failure, meeting the end of her life with the same resolve and grace that defined her years.

Edwine is survived by her niece Victoria Lee Meeks Pope, her children and grandchildren, and her nephew Gary Lance Meeks and his family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her older sister, June Luella Lytle Meeks Randolph.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to be made to an animal charity.
