Olivia Frieda Harris, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026 at home with her husband at her side. She was born on October 9, 1938, in Latopa, Upolu, Samoa, the second daughter of Olsen AhMu and Dora Regina Stehlin.
Olivia spent her early childhood in Samoa before moving with her family to Aukland, New Zealand at the age of 13. It was there that she met her eternal companion, Philip Alfred Harris. They were married on December 20, 1961, in the Mesa Arizona Temple, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned more than six decades.
Together, Olivia and Philip raised six children: Nadene, Ana, Philip, Edmund, Byron, and William. Her legacy continues through her 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally.
Following their marriage, Olivia and Philip lived in Mesa, Arizona, where their first two children were born. Their family later moved to Hemet, California, then Escondido, California, before settling in Vista, California, where they lived for over 20 years. In later years, they made their home in Kailua-Kona, Hawai i, where they lived for almost 30 years. Their final home together was in
Saratoga Springs, Utah, where Olivia resided until her passing.
Olivia was a devoted homemaker, loving mother, and a talented professional seamstress, widely known for her skill, creativity, and generosity. She lovingly created countless dresses, quilts, and blankets for family, friends, and members of her community, many of which became treasured heirlooms. She was also known for her exceptional cooking and cherished family recipes that brought loved ones together.
She was a steadfast supporter of her husband in both his business endeavors and church service, faithfully standing by his side during his years of leadership, including serving twice as a bishop and as a stake president. Among her most cherished callings was serving alongside her husband as President and Matron of the Kona Hawai i Temple.
Olivia also served for many years in the Young Women's program, where she was a guiding influence and mentor to countless young women. Her love, wisdom, and steady presence led many to consider her a second mother, and her impact on their lives continues to be felt.
Beyond her devotion to family and faith, Olivia embraced life with joy and energy. She was an avid tennis player and loved dancing, especially hula and Polynesian dance, which reflected her cultural pride and vibrant spirit.
Olivia is survived by her beloved husband, Philip Harris; her six children, Nadene (Ray), Ana, Philip (Ava), Edmund (Valerie), Byron (Marta), William (Diane); her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Sally AhMu Gascoine; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Margie AhMu Puriri; her grandson, Philip Toa Harris, and her great grandson, Manti Harris.
Olivia's life was one of service, love, creativity, and unwavering dedication to family and faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her strength, warmth, and the countless lives she nurtured and uplifted.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday January 24th, 2026 at 1178 S Pondside Dr.
Saratoga Springs, UT 84045. Visitation is 10:00am; Funeral Service is 11:00am. Burial to follow.
