Irene E. Rectenwald

Irene E. (Brown) Rectenwald, 97, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023. She was the wife of the late Chief Petty Officer John S. Rectenwald, USN. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Alan D. and Irene R. (Rivard) Brown. She has been a resident of Warwick since 1965.
Irene had worked for many years in various jobs but her greatest joy was caring for her grandchildren, which she happily did for 18 years. She was the loving mother of John S. Rectenwald Jr., Marcia A. Carroll, Carol J. Feeley R.N., Joyce E. Pacheco, and the late Leonard W. Rectenwald, and Theresa L. Lamy-Dowdel R.N. She was the sister of Judith Read, and the late Alan D. Brown Jr., Robert E. Brown, Lester J. Brown, and Raymond Brown. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 9-11AM with a service at 11AM in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Her interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Irene's memory to a charity of your choice.
