Nancy Wunderler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Quinn Funeral Home - Warwick on Feb. 10, 2026.
Nancy J. Wunderler, 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the devoted wife of the late Francis M. Wunderler Sr., with whom she shared 66 beautiful years of marriage. Born in Providence, Nancy was the beloved daughter of the late John and Carmella (Mainella) Fazioli.

Nancy was a loving and devoted mother to Barbara Wunderler-Selby and her husband Chuck, Linda Wunderler, Annette Jackson, Laura Blais and her companion David, and Frank Wunderler, Jr. and his wife Marylyn. She was the adoring "Grammy" to her twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Nancy was predeceased by her cherished grandchildren, Angela and Jacob; her treasured great-grandson Xavier; her sons-in-law Cliff Blais and Jay Jackson; and her siblings Bernard Fazioli, Marie Romano, Judith Cicillini, and Lorna Meunier.

Having grown up on Federal Hill, Nancy met her husband Frank at a dance at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, a social tradition they both enjoyed. Not long after, they were married in Providence in 1955. Following a brief time living in Pennsylvania, Nancy and Frank returned to Providence, where they raised their five children and became devoted parishioners of Holy Ghost Church.

Throughout her life, Nancy demonstrated a deep commitment to helping others, particularly in the areas of child education and social services. She volunteered extensively, including meaningful work with the Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center, where she helped countless people. Professionally, she worked as a secretary for many years, including positions with the Rhode Island Department of Human Services and the City of Warwick. Later in life, Nancy returned to school to further her education, earning a degree in social work. In recognition of her compassion and dedication, she received the Marguerite A. Beaubien Humanitarian Award in 1994.

After moving to Warwick, Nancy became a devoted parishioner of St. Rita's Church. She embraced an active and joyful lifestyle, finding happiness in tending her garden, hiking with the Warwick Wanderers, swimming daily at the YMCA, taking Zumba classes, and walking at Warwick Mall with her friends. Above all, Nancy treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and extended family, relationships that brought her immense pride and joy.

Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held Thursday, February 12, from 9:00am to 11:00am in The Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00pm in St. Rita Church, 722 Oakland Beach Ave, Warwick. Her burial will take place in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, where she will be reunited with her husband.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Rita Church, 722 Oakland Beach Ave, Warwick, RI 02889 OR to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
