Irene R. (Wolters) Seitz, age 85, of Coldwater passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. She was born on July 20, 1940 in Maria Stein to the late Alphons & Clara (Heitkamp) Wolters. On September 2, 1961 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, she married David Seitz and he preceded her in death in 2005.
Irene is survived by her children, Douglas & Virginia Seitz of Coldwater, Michael & Jennifer Seitz of Coldwater, and Kimberly & Mark Metzger of Ft. Recovery, daughter-in-law, Becky Seitz of Plain City, 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and one on the way, and siblings and in-laws, Paul Wolters of Maria Stein, Mary Jane & Jerry Schwartz of Ft. Loramie, and Barbara & Daniel Dwenger of Osgood.
She was preceded in death by son, Gary Seitz, daughter, Jodi Seitz, and siblings and in-laws, Dorothy & Julius Albers, Neal & Dolores Wolters, Elmer & Martha Wolters, Velma Wolters, Mark & Sylvia Wolters, Carl & Rosie Seitz, Dan & Mary Ann Seitz, and several nieces and nephews.
Irene was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the St. Ann’s Sodality, the Resurrection Choir, collection money counter and a funeral luncheon cook. She retired from First Financial Bank after 29 years as a banker. She was a member and former president of the Coldwater Eagles Auxiliary and a volunteer at Mercer Health Hospital, the Bloodmobile drives, and the Senior Citizen Garage Sales. She enjoyed the card clubs and gambling trips she got to be a part of. Irene was a part of the Coldwater Quilt Guild and was proud of the many t-shirt quilts, baby quilts, and wedding quilts she made for her grandchildren and friends. In addition to the quilts, Irene crocheted lots of baby and bed sized afghan blankets for her family.
Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, January 19, 2026 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater. Friends may call from 1 PM to 5 PM on Sunday and from 9 AM to 10 AM on Monday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater. Condolences may be left at hogenkampfh.com
