Irene Vickers

Irene Vickers, 70, of Brunswick Hills, Ohio, and Venice, Florida, passed peacefully into God's hands on June 13, 2025.
Irene's life was based on faith, family, and friends.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Brian, and their three sons: Benjamin (Lauren), Collin (Alyson), and Jordan (Rachel). Irene was a proud and devoted grandmother to seven grandchildren: Elizabeth, Mason, Lucas, Madelyn, Caleb, Eleanor, and Ethan.
Born on March 2, 1955, Irene was the fourth of five children of John and Helen Volk, who preceded her in death. Her siblings survive her. Irene had a special relationship with her sister Diane. She also leaves behind her dearest lifelong friends, Ginny Evans and Kathy Danehy, whose enduring friendships brought her joy and comfort through every season of life. She also had other close friends, too numerous to mention.
Irene began her professional life as a dedicated X-ray technologist, but her heart led her to what she considered her highest calling: being a stay-at-home mother and, eventually, a Grammy. She poured her love, time, and energy into her family, finding her greatest joy in caring for others. She cherished the serenity of the sound of creeks, cabins, and the presence of all God's creatures in her 4 acres of woods. Her deep connection to nature and her steadfast faith were threads woven into everything she did, creating a legacy of gentleness, strength, and grace. She also enjoyed the beach, library, and an occasional glazed doughnut.
A private Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, where Brian and she were founding members. Irene's ashes will be laid to rest in the Memorial Garden at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, Florida.
In honor of Irene's life, her family encourages others to reflect on the beauty in everyday moments, to love deeply, and to keep faith close, just as she always did.
