Irene Long Wright, 80, of Cedar Park, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on May 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Irene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Born in Houston, Texas, she was the daughter of Bobby Mae Newsom, her stepfather Raymond Newsom, and Robert Long, and was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Charles (Burr) and Mazel (Nee Nee) Paris.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, Sherrill Donza Wright; her sister, Sharon Ladner; her brother, Charles Newsom; and her three children, Theresa Renea Damron, Charlene Ann Bannister and her husband Jay Bannister, and Johnie Shane Christ and his partner Tiffany Lail. Irene also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Preston Damron and his partner Jazmine Cerna, Braiden Bannister and his wife Dyani Bannister, and Shane Christ and his wife Alyssia Christ; as well as her great-granddaughter, Catalina Cerna.
Known for her warmth and outgoing spirit, Irene never met a stranger. She had a rare gift for forming instant connections that often blossomed into lifelong friendships. Her natural charisma and determination served her well in her entrepreneurial ventures, including owning her own business and later managing a successful portfolio of rental properties.
Irene's deep faith in Jesus was a guiding light throughout her life. Her unwavering love for her family and her strong belief in God were evident to all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and resilience that will continue to live on in everyone she touched.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. We carry her love with us and look forward to the day we are reunited with her.
