Iris Richardson Ferre, age 102, passed away October 2, 2025 in Nephi, Utah. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 2, 1923 to Reeve Gregor and Therese Brough Richardson.

She lived her younger years in Lynndyl, Fillmore and Cedar City, Utah. Her family moved to Nephi, Utah where she finished her last three years of high school. She attended BYU University for 4 years where she earned a Business/Secretarial degree graduating in 1945. She worked for a Bank, the Bureau of Reclamation in Provo and was Clerk of the Nephi Draft Board. She met Sherl D. Ferre in Provo and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on December 16, 1949.

Sherl graduated from BYU with an Elementary Education degree. After graduating they moved to Nephi, Utah. Iris designed their home and Sherl built it (making sure to add an extra nail for the millenium). Sherl taught school and was later a Principal and Clerk/Treasurer for Juab School District.

Iris was always upbeat and fun to be around. She had a great sense of humor.

Her family had lots of laughs about life in general. Sometimes just silly things or inside jokes would bring out the laughter. She has a witty personality and is always positive with a cute little laugh with her hand over her mouth. Iris was a very talented lady. She loved serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had many callings including Secretary in the Stake Young Women’s, Sunday School Organist, Primary Historian, Varied Interest Teacher, Ward and Choir Organist and Pianist, Stake Relief Society Organist with Stake Music Director, Manti Temple Worker, visiting teacher and coordinator. She has been on the Humanitarian committee for many years making quilts. She enjoyed painting in oils and shared her paintings with many friends and family.

She loved Genealogy and worked many hours researching her ancestors and found many pictures and special stories about them. She served as Secretary and Historian for the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was past President and long time member of the 21st Century Delphic Literary Club of Nephi and was founder of the Nephi Rose Garden spending many hours weeding and trimming.

Iris is an Icon to the town of Nephi and received Woman of the Year award in 2015. Her life was very blessed living in such a great place surrounded by family and friends.

She lived the last 4 years of her life at Red Cliffs Assisted Living surrounded by her friends there whom she loved very much. We are very gratefiil to the staff and residents for the loving care and concern they gave to our mother and grandmother.

Iris is survived by her children Warren Gregor (Rolayne) Ferre, Nephi, Utah and Brenda (Chad) Demler, Providence, Utah, 2 Grandchildren Terese (Ryan) Beck and Shantry Ferre Siddoway, 3 Great Grandchildren River Iris, Laynie May and Tate Ryan.
