Iris Goff Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Skinner Funeral Home - Lansing on Dec. 27, 2024.
Iris Ann Goff
Lansing, MI
Went to be with her Lord and Savior on Christmas Day, 2024, at the age of 93. Born in Lapeer, Michigan on September 27, 1931, Iris was a beacon of light that radiated love, compassion, and warmth to all she encountered. A talented medical transcriptionist, Iris retired from Sparrow Hospital in 2001, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and hard work.
Iris was a woman of many talents and passions. An avid gardener and camper, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Iris was a gifted flutist, lending her talent to the Lansing Concert Band, and a sports enthusiast who passionately cheered for her beloved Detroit Tigers and Michigan State Spartans. Together with her late husband, Danforth Goff, Iris enjoyed traveling abroad with the MSU Alumni Marching Band, performing in various European cities as an honorary member of the band.
A generous and loving individual, Iris was a long-time member of the Grace Methodist Church in Lansing. She worked with the prayer shawl group and participated in the choir, embodying the Christian verse, "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms." (1 Peter 4:10). Iris also was a member of the Lansing Child Study Club, always seeking to learn and grow. Above all, she cherished family gatherings around the holidays, creating memories that her loved ones will treasure forever.
Iris is survived by her sons, Andrew (Maria Manzor) Arnesen, Jeff Arnesen; step-daughter, Lisa Goff; grandchildren, Matthew Arnesen, Alyssa (Evan Gendell) Arnesen, Teresa Arnesen; four great grandchildren, Trent, Trevor, Isaiah, and Andrew as well as her beloved cat, Buddy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Danforth Goff; parents, Arnold and Thelma (Crankshaw) Diener; son, David Arnesen; step-son, Danforth Goff Jr.; brother, Keith (Darlene) Diener; and sisters, Fern (Leo) Marczynski and Betty (Al) Boersma.
There are no services scheduled for Iris at this time. All are encouraged to leave memories, condolences and upload pictures to her memorial page at www.SkinnerFuneralHomes.com
