Iris Lanthrip Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Generations Funeral Home & Crematory - Tomahawk on Dec. 16, 2025.
Iris L. Lanthrip, age 83, of Schofield, WI, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Care Partners in Schofield. Iris was born on March 10, 1942, in Milwaukee, WI, to the late Patrick and Santa (Berti) Patterson.
Iris attended South Division High School in Milwaukee. In 1959, she married the love of her life, Edward Lanthrip, while he was serving in the military. Together, they moved frequently across the country as they built their life and raised their family. Iris was a devoted homemaker, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to caring for her children and creating a warm, loving home wherever their travels took them. Later in life, Iris worked as a traveling home health Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Goodman, WI, where she provided care and comfort to many before retiring in 1988.
Iris cherished simple routines and meaningful traditions. Every Sunday, she and Ed enjoyed getting fried chicken from Econofoods in Michigan, a favorite outing close to their home in Goodman. She loved watching CNN, camping, playing bingo, and reading romance novels. A true animal lover, Iris always had dachshunds by her side, which brought her great joy and companionship. Above all else, Iris adored her grandchildren and took great pleasure in spoiling them whenever she could.
Survivors include her son, Dean Lanthrip (Denise Kistner); her daughters, Dawn (Scott) Winchester, and Darcy Lanthrip (Todd Dotter); and her brother, Wayne (Judy) Patterson. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Scott Moore, Stephen Moore, Megan Lanthrip, Josh Lanthrip, Austin Lanthrip, Shauna Schrank, Tyler Kalkofen, and Jordan Kalkofen; in addition to several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her son, Monty Lanthrip; her granddaughters, Faith Kalkofen and Leslie Lanthrip; her brother, Dennis Patterson; and her sister, Marsha Patterson.
