Iris Wyldene Raden went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 20, 2024 at Hamilton Place Assisted Living surrounded by her family. She was born in Duncan, SC on April 15, 1930. She resided most of her life in Gainesville and was retired from AT & T.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Tom Raden; her parents JB and Jessie Grubbs; her siblings Ophelia Raden, Bill Grubbs, and Calvin Grubbs; and her nephew Lawrence Raden.
She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law Lisa and Steve Leikvoll, and Amy and Todd Gooch; her grandchildren whom she adored Ross Leikvoll, Erica Leikvoll, and Lauren Gooch Woods (Joel), and Caitlin Gooch Adams (Eric); and several nieces.
Iris trusted the Lord as her Savior at a young age and was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, where she served faithfully into her eighties until her health would no longer allow.
Family was a central part of her life. She was devoted to her husband, daughters, and their families. She enjoyed preparing meals for family gatherings, especially during the holidays.
One of her favorite roles was that of being Nana to her grandchildren. She loved watching them in gymnastics, Tee Ball, Little League, and piano recitals. She was always very interested in what was going on in their lives and desired that they follow the Lord also. She set a good example for them.
A memorial service will be held at Memorial Park North Funeral Home on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Steve Baker will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
