Lawrence Raden, 68 years old, of Gainesville Georgia, died in his family's arms on July 31, 2024.
He was born in Winter Garden, Florida in 1955 to John Witt and Ophelia Raden. He moved to Florence, South Carolina with his dad, mother, and sister Joy in 1966. Eight years later, Lawrence graduated from South Side High School, and his family moved to Gainesville Georgia in 1974. Lawrence attended and graduated from Lanier Technical School as a service technician. Lawrence began working as a mechanic and maintained his trade for over 45 years, becoming a Certified Master Technician and receiving multiple excellence awards. In 1974, he joined Sardis Baptist Church and met his best friend and love of his life, Gail Satterfield. Lawrence and Gail were married on May 20, 1978 at Sardis Baptist Church. During their 46 beautiful years together, they had 3 daughters Nicole, Mindy, and Jill. Lawrence even allowed his daughters to bring Peanut, a chihuahua, into the home, who soon became his constant companion. In 2016, Mindy married Corey Anderson. Their son, Isaac Anderson was born in 2019, promoting John Lawrence Raden to "Papa".
Lawrence will always be remembered for his love of his Savior Jesus Christ. He spent every day spreading the love of God to anyone that he met. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents John Witt and Ophelia Raden and brother in law Harvey Smith. He is survived by his wife Gail Raden, daughters Nicole and Jill Raden, daughter Mindy and son in law Corey Anderson, Grandson Isaac, sister Joy Smith, nephew Darren, niece Holly and Jeff Sherrill with Olivia and Whit.
Visitation is August 2, 2024 at Memorial Park Main and the Celebration of Life is August 3, 2024 at Memorial Park Main. In lieu of flowers, donations to Maranatha Ministries of Hall County would be greatly appreciated where Lawrence was a devoted deacon to the church and a trustee and board member of the academy.
