Irma Marion Eppel, age 97, of Hillsdale, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Drews Country Living. She was born on April 11, 1925, in Garden City, Michigan to John and Edith (Bastian) Caroen. She married James "Jim" Eppel on July 9, 1983, and he survives.
Irma graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 1944 and later went back to school in the 1980's and attend Jackson Community College. She worked various jobs at Stove Works in Ypsilanti and at Hillsdale County Baptist Academy. Irma was a member of the United Brethren Church in Brooklyn and was a part of many church groups. She also loved gardening and traveling.
Irma is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jim; six children, Steven (Diana) Crawford, of Devils Lake, Laurie (Bill) Waugh of Texas, Holly Starr of Texas, Greg (Marcia) Eppel of Coldwater, Ruth Eppel of Striker, and Myron (Clair) Eppel of Toledo; eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and step-grandchildren; and four siblings, Ada, Marcia, Barbara and Jack.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Richard Crawford, and five siblings, Harold, Alfred, Stanley, Virginia, and Ellen.
There will be no services at this time for Irma Eppel. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
