It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful Mother, Irma Zelda Flitt of Mystic on August 28, 2025.
Irma was born on December 05,1931 in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Jacob and Bessie Snitman. Her marriage to her husband, Alvin (Sonny) Flitt of 65 years was filled with fun, love and the blessing of long, beautiful friendships and closeness of family.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and Harvey Orenstein and her son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Laurie Flitt. Irma's grandchildren, Stacey Gordon, Jessica Copeland, Jason Orenstein, Leah Marin and Adena Barber and their spouses Lee, Alan, Mary, Joe and Jared showered her with nine great grandchildren. Michael and Olivia Gordon, Jordan and Avery Marin, Joshua and Emily Copeland, Benjamin and Hannah Barber and Jaxson Orenstein were the love and joy of her life.
Irma spent the last seven months of her life at Masonicare in Mystic where she enjoyed meeting new friends and competing and winning poker matches. Our parents had a special gift for meeting people through travel, many summers in Siesta Key and in their community who became treasured lifelong friends and our Mother continued to be blessed by their friendships.
Irma will be missed by all the people that she loved and loved her in return. She was a very special person!
Donations can be made to Hadassah or to Temple Emanu El in Waterford.
Graveside services will take place at the Hebrew Benevolent Cemetery, Middle Road, Preston on Sunday, August 31st at noon.
