On Wednesday, November 5, Irma Leticia Fuentes passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 57. Though she is no longer with us, her love, strength, and kindness will remain in our hearts forever.
Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. followed by the Funeral Mass at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 14, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. www.petersonbrothers.com
Irma Leticia Fuentes was born on January 14, 1968, in Florida, Copán, Honduras, to Ines Fuentes and Judith Lopez. From a young age, Irma had a kind heart and a deep desire to help others. She attended college in Honduras, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. She spent many years teaching and working as a social worker, serving rural communities with compassion and dedication.
In 2004, Irma came to the United States, where she made her home in Willmar, Minnesota. She worked at Jennie-O Foods and built a life surrounded by family and friends who loved her deeply.
Irma was raised in the Catholic faith, and her strong belief in God guided her through every chapter of her life. She loved playing volleyball and basketball in summer leagues, listening to music, and spending time with the people she loved most. Her laughter, warmth, and caring spirit touched everyone who knew her.
Irma is survived by her mother, Judith Lopez of Honduras; her three children, Francis Vian of Roseburg, OR, Ian Fuentes (and Nora Cruz) of Willmar, MN, and Lizz Suarez of Roseburg, OR; and her three precious grandchildren, Arya, Ian, and Johan. She is also survived by three brothers, three sisters, and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ines Fuentes, and two brothers, Carlos Fuentes and Elias Fuentes.
