Irma Parks Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Allen Funeral Home - Davison on Nov. 14, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Irma Catherine (Hershberger) Parks, age 93, went home to meet her Savior face to face November 13, 2025, with family at her side. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, Michigan 48423; Pastor Mike Halliburton officiating. Interment will take place following the service at Davison Cemetery, alongside her husband. The family will receive visitors 3-7 PM on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, and again on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 AM at the funeral home.
Irma was born October 2, 1932, to the late Mary (Rhoads) and Clifford Hershberger in their family home in Davison. She graduated from Davison High School in 1950 and worked at various jobs before she met her future husband while employed at Uptegraff Chevrolet in Davison. She and Donald Parks were married in 1955 and soon began raising their seven children.
Consistently throughout their marriage she was supportive of her husband, especially after he entered politics in 1970; she became the "moon" to his "sun." Over time she began to sell Sarah Coventry jewelry at in-home parties and was very successful at it. She also became well-known in the community for her cookie-baking, regularly bringing various kinds to the Davison Bloodmobile, first at the Genesee Bank location, then at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Her and her husband's retirement years were spent on many camping trips, and she enjoyed serving others by cooking and baking many varieties of goodies. Irma was also well-known to many for the dozens of baby blankets she made and gave first to their grandchildren, then great-grandchildren and others.
Irma was a life-long citizen of the Davison community, and member of the Davison First Baptist Church, born and raised in both.
Irma leaves to sweetly cherish her memory her children, Gary (Patty) Parks, Ann Ellsworth-Parks, Sue Johns, Nancy Parks, Steve (Martina) Parks, Alan (Jutta) Parks, Laura (Eric) Johns, and Carmen (David) Holm, 19 grandchildren and their respective spouses, and 23 great-grandchildren, whom she loved until her dying breath. She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her five siblings, husband Donald in 2024, son-in-law, Brad Johns, and granddaughter Lydia Parks.
Heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staffs of Charter Senior Living facility, and Optimal Medical and Hospice Teams for their watchful care of Irma throughout the previous year.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, or the charity of your choice.
