Irvin Ray Brubaker, 84, of Ephrata, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Keystone Villa at Ephrata.
He was born in Myerstown to the late Norman and Lovina (Gingrich) Brubaker and was the husband of the late Mabel (Redcay) Brubaker, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Irvin was a member of Akron Community Church. He was a very faithful and devoted Christian. He was a great husband, father, friend, and all-around wonderful person. He was a very loving, gentle, caring, kind, forgiving, patient, slow to judge, intelligent, hardworking, and talented person. He built their house in Clay Township with his own two hands that he and his wife lived in for 56 years. He also directed and contributed to the construction of numerous mobile home parks. It was often said that there was nothing that he couldn't fix. His skills in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and mobile home park construction were self-taught.
Irvin was an avid baseball and hockey fan and a very avid hunter. He enjoyed countless hours practicing baseball with his sons and a lifetime of hunting with his sons. He was most at peace and happy when he was at the family cabin in Tioga County.
Above all, Irvin was a great husband, father, and grandfather. He delighted in spending time with his family in any way possible. He spent many fun times at the family cabin where he was often found working the grill or playing pitcher in a wiffleball game. He also helped his children with many home improvement projects.
The world would be a much better place with more people like Irvin. Always willing to lend a helping hand, always in a good mood, always gentle and caring, always accepting of everyone.
Irvin is survived by two sons, Stanley R. Brubaker, husband of Cindy (Soltis) Brubaker of York, Merle R. Brubaker, husband of Lana (Leos) Brubaker of Glenville; four grandchildren, Spencer, Joshua, Kyle, and Chloe; three sisters, Ruth Brubaker Nolt, wife of Paul Nolt, Thelma Brubaker Martin, wife of the late Raymond Martin, and Lorraine Brubaker Litzenberger, wife of Leon Litzenberger.
In addition to his parents, Irvin was preceded in death by five brothers, Melvin, Howard, Leonard, Warren, Russel and two sisters, Pearl Brubaker Good and Darlene Brubaker Martin.
A viewing will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 5 to 7 PM, at Stradling Funeral Home, 30 North 9th Street, Akron. An additional viewing will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 9 to 10:30 AM, at Akron Community Church, 613 Main Street, Akron, followed by his funeral service at 10:30 AM, with pastor Timothy Fleener officiating. Interment will be held in Middle Creek Cemetery.
