Irvin Merrill Jividen

Irvin Merrill Jividen 88 of Midway passed away Sunday November 16, 2025 at Celebration Villa following a brief illness. He started working for Sears Roebuck in 1957 as a salesperson and retired as the store manager of the Huntington Mall Sears. Merrill was an active member of the Midway Church, serving many years as the adult Sunday School teacher and the Choir Director. He was a distance runner, an avid hunter, and a master at growing a garden. Merrill was known as a man of solid faith and service. He so loved and committed to his family.
Born February 25, 1937 he was the son of the late Oshel Jividen and Hazel Lunsford Jividen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Anne Jividen Barnett; sister, Eunice Stone; brothers, Olin Jividen, Elvin Jividen, and Glennis Jividen.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Patricia Jividen; grandson, Andrew J. (Francis) Barnett; great grandchildren, Callie, Levi, Isaiah and Theodore; son in law; Rod (Diane) Barnett; brothers, Vernon Jividen of Cross Lanes and Veril Jividen of Scott Depot. Merrill is also survived by several nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Midway Community Church, P.O. Box 72, Eleanor, WV 25070.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday November 22, 2025 at Raynes Funeral Home, Eleanor with Pastor Joe Rogers and Pastor Jeff Pitchford officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Memory Gardens, Red House. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
