Irving Thomas "Doc" Pierson

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Irving Thomas "Doc" Pierson, born May 28, 1957 in Chester, Pennsylvania, who died on Monday, March 23 at 2:56 a.m. He was a man defined by strength, loyalty, and unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and all who knew him.

Irving proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on January 19, 1976, and honorably served his country until his retirement as a Msgt on August 31, 1997. A dedicated Marine, he lived by the values of honor, courage, and commitment-both in uniform and throughout his daily life.

Irving, known to many as "Doc," was a devoted husband, sharing cherished love and partnership with his beloved wife, Patricia Pierson. He was not only her partner, but her best friend and hero. He was a proud and loving father, a caring brother, and a treasured grandfather whose presence brought comfort, guidance, and pride to his family.

He was known as someone you could always rely on, a steady and dependable presence who stood strong for his country, his family, and his friends.

Even in his final moments, Irving showed the same strength that defined his life. He passed as he lived-strong, steady, and thinking of others.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and integrity that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Irving was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Jean Pierson, and his son, Martin Barba.

Irving is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Pierson; his sons, James Pierson and wife Jennifer, Mark Pierson and wife Sarah, and Peter Barba and Johnathon Lewis; his brother, William Pierson and wife Michele; his sister, Kathie Pierson; and nine cherished grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always honored.

Visitation services will be held on April 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home, 2125 Bartow Rd, Lakeland, FL 33801.

Graveside services will take place on April 14 at 12:30 p.m. at Bushnell National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
