Irwin Brent Johnston

Irwin "Brent" Johnston, 80, of Liberty, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Born June 7, 1945, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to parents Irvin Johnston and Henrietta Robar. Brent lived a full life rooted in family, laughter, and tradition.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gayle Hopson Johnston, with whom he shared many years of love and partnership, along with his parents, Irvin and Henrietta.

Brent is survived by his son, Justin Johnston; his daughter, Julie Wilner, and her boyfriend Chris Partin; and his cherished grandchildren, Lily Johnston, Jude Johnston and Audrey Wilner, and his favorite sister in law, Jill Fulghum. He also leaves behind a large extended family and countless friends who will forever treasure his presence in their lives.

Brent was a man who loved deeply and lived wholeheartedly. He was a proud Navy veteran who loved his country. He found joy in time spent fishing, cooking up his favorite Cajun dishes, and sharing his sharp wit and humor with all who knew him. He worked hard throughout his life, but always made time for his family, who were his greatest pride and joy.

Those who knew Brent will remember him for his warm spirit, quick jokes, and his ability to make everyone feel welcome around his table.

A celebration of Brent's life will be held at Allison Funeral Home in Liberty, Texas on September 27th. The family will welcome guests from 9-10am and the service will begin at 10am. Graveside with Military Honors immediately following at Cooke Cemetery, Liberty, Tx. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Brent by sharing a meal with your loved ones, swapping stories, and holding family close-just as he would have wanted.
