Irwin Mann Obituary

June 19, 2025. He was a loved father, grandfather, brother, and dear friend.
Doc was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 13, 1940. One of the highlights
of his childhood was playing in the Little League World Series. He went on to
graduate from the Illinois College of Podiatry in 1964. As a board certified
podiatrist and surgeon, he owned private practices. was on staff at Kern
Hospital, and taught podiatric medicine and surgery in both Iowa and
Michigan. Doc co-invented and held the patent for the Polly Cast Boot.
After moving to Michigan, Irwin enjoyed spending time with his family at their
home on Lake Voorheis where both boating and fishing were favorite pastimes.
He loved making music and singing with members of The Big Chief Barbershop
Chorus in Michigan and The Heart of Florida Barbershop Chorus in Florida.
During his retirement years in Florida, spending time with dear friends and
family, singing, and playing cards were part of the meaningful memories he
made.
In lieu of a memorial service, Doc simply wanted to share a thank you to each
and everyone of you who touched his life. He deeply appreciated your
friendship!

Doc had a WONDERFUL personality, with a very nice smile, who was always very cordial and a real joy to be around!
I will miss him DEARLY!

I will always remember the enthusiasm and support that he showed to each of us in the Pontiac-Waterford Big Chief Barbershop Chorus. His willingness to quartet with anyone that wanted to and especially his willingness to sing "Shenandoah," one of his favorite quartet songs. My thanks and gratitude to "Doc" and his family for supporting his and our hobby of sharing barbershop style music with whomever was willing to listen.
