Funeral services for Isaac Lynn Crain, 90, of Monroe, LA, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, May 15, 2023, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Hwy 165, Monroe, LA, with Pastor Gerald Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Bayou Macon Cemetery in Darnell, LA. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.
He was born February 21, 1933, in Waverly, LA and passed from this life on May 12, 2023, in Monroe, LA. “Ike” as he was fondly called by all who knew and loved him as a barber for 48 years in Monroe and Bastrop, LA. His last business was on Hwy 165, “Ike’s Barber Shop” across from North Monroe Hospital.
Ike loved his country and proudly served in the United States Navy for 3 years, 4 months, and 8 days. He was stationed in San Diego, CA, he discharged as a Gunners Mate 2nd Class.
He loved music and played all his life even as a small child. He played harmonica, then went on to learn to play guitar, mandolin, and fiddle. He was gifted with a great ear and the ability to pick up any stringed instrument with ease. He hosted many “Jam Sessions” at Ike’s Barber Shop. He even parlayed those “jam sessions” into a gig at the Veteran’s Home, Hwy 165, for over 23 years.
He also loved fishing and hunting for many years. He was always taking his family on camping fishing trips and hunting trips for the sons, grandson, great grandsons, and son-in-laws.
He loved sports and spent a lot of time with his son, Steve, helping him with his pitch. He also worked with his daughters, Beverly and Debbie, and grandson, Bryan, helping them with their pitch. Baseball was big in his eyes.
Ike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clay and Ellen Osbon; his brother, Henry Clay Crain; and son-in-law, Ray Lee.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lillie Mae Copes Crain; three children, Debbie C. Lee, Steven R. Crain, and Beverly and husband Charles Richards; three grandchildren, Bryan Crnkovic and wife Amy, Aaron Crnkovic and wife Linda, and Amanda Easterling and husband Greg; great grandchildren, Sklyer Crnkovic Hill and husband Jon Mical Hill, Joshua Crnkovic, Bailey Easterling, Somer Crnkovic, Mason Easterling, Micah Crnkovic, and Katie Crnkovic; siblings, Frank Maddox and wife Linda, Richard Maddox, Ruby Lee Orr, Billy Maddox, and Virginia Maddox; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Gondoliers bearing the Pall will be his grandsons: Bryan Crnkovic, Aaron Crnkovic, Joshua Crnkovic, Micah Crnkovic, Mason Easterling, and Keith Williams.
Honorary gondolier of the pall will be Greg Easterling.
