DALMATIA - Isaac "Ike" L. Krommes, 89, of Dalmatia, passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2026.
Born on August 22, 1936, in Herndon, Ike was a proud graduate of Mahanoy Joint High School, Class of 1954. Following high school, he built a strong work ethic through his years at Creative Playthings and Kinney Shoe Corporation, before dedicating 20 years of service to Meckley's Limestone Quarry, from which he retired in 1999.
Ike also honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962.
Ike married the love of his life, Patricia (Wagner) Krommes, on April 21, 1962, and they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife; his daughters, Michelle Thomas (John), Kathleen Krommes (Mark), and Angela Swineford (Larry); his grandchildren, Nathan Swineford (Jennifer), Paige Allman, and Courtney Thomas (Justin); his cherished great-grandchildren, Mason, Chase, Norah, and Olivia; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Susan Arbogast (John), Keith Wagner (Linda), and Reynold Wagner (Su); and many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mae Correll; his aunt, Alice Deitz (Mark); his uncles, John Correll and Jim Correll (Ruth); his grandparents, Maymie and Adam Correll; his mother- and father-in-law, Velma and Floyd Wagner; and his sister-in-law, Jan Parker.
Ike was an avid hunter and fisherman who found peace and joy in the outdoors. He took great pride in his garden, often turning his harvest into his famous hot sauce, hot pepper mustard, and homemade spaghetti sauce-foods that brought family and friends together and became cherished traditions. One of his greatest joys was weekly Sunday dinners with his family, along with numerous summer picnics and campouts filled with laughter, storytelling, and time spent outdoors. He also took immense pride in watching his grandchildren play sports in school, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on and support them. A devoted New York Yankees fan from a young age, Ike faithfully watched their games and carried his love of baseball with him throughout his life.
A man deeply committed to fellowship and community, Ike was a member of American Legion Post 504, Lower Mahanoy Fire Company Social Club, Herndon Fire Company Social Club, and an original member of the Hemlock Rod and Gun Club. He also belonged to the Union County Sportsman's Club, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Broomtown Boat Club, Herndon Lodge No. 702 F&AM, and the Williamsport Scottish Rite Freemasonry.
In honoring Ike's wishes, no services will be held. He would want his family and friends to remember the joy, love, and meaningful memories shared throughout his life.
Donations in honor of Ike Krommes may be made to the
