Isaac "Ike" Williams, Jr. Obituary
Isaac Franklin "Ike" Williams, Jr., 93, of Northwest departed this life for his heavenly home on August 10, 2025. Ike was born March 14, 1932 in the White Pond community near Fairmont in Robeson County to Isaac Franklin "Frank" Williams, Sr. and Bessie Page Williams.
Ike was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Martha "Little" Medlin Williams. He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Edge (Buddy) of Delco and Patricia Bryan of Ogden, Utah; one son, Frank Williams (Lori) of Leland; three grandsons, Jason Cox (Carrie) of Wilmington, Kevin Bryan (Ruth) of Ogden, UT and David Bryan of Ogden, UT, three great-grandchildren, Ethan and Avery Cox of Wilmington and Natasha Bryan of Ogden, UT, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ike was known for hard work, love of country, commitment to family, and devotion to his Lord and Savior. The most important decision of his life was accepting the gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ on January 16, 1979 thanks to his close friend and co-worker, Harvey Sherman, sharing the Good News with him. Ike was an active member and chapter president of Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International for many years. Additionally, he traveled to Russia and Haiti on mission trips.
Ike volunteered for military service on August 31, 1949 at Fort Jackson, SC. With the onset of the Korean War the following year, he saw active combat duty. He earned a Purple Heart for wounds sustained on January 26, 1951 near Suwon, Korea, as well as a Combat Infantryman's Badge, Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, a United Nations Service Medal, and an Occupation Medal (Japan). He was discharged on May 25, 1952 at Fort Jackson, SC as a Corporal.
After his discharge, Ike wasted no time finding the love of his life, Martha, whom he married on June 13, 1953. He spent his career in the pulp and paper industry, working at both Bowater Paper Mill in Athens, TN and Federal Paper Board in Riegelwood, N.C. In addition to working at the paper mill, he raised cattle and crops on a small family farm in Northwest for many years. Ike loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter.
Ike was also actively involved in politics for many years. He served on the executive committees of the Brunswick County Republican Party, the N.C. 7th Congressional District Republican Party, and the North Carolina Republican Party. He served as Republican Precinct Chair in the Hood Creek precinct for many years and supported countless candidates over multiple decades. In 1988, he was elected as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in New Orleans.
If Ike were here to share one final message, it would be this: he is reunited with Martha in Heaven because he accepted the gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. He hopes each of you will receive that same gift by accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
