Isabel C. Brownell

Isabel C. "Izzy" Brownell, 102, of Dubuque, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Stonehill Care Center.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Isabel was born on November 11, 1922 in Dubuque, the daughter of Carl and Adele (Ott) Schlueter. She married Francis Henry Brownell on June 21, 1945. He preceded her in death on November 14, 2001.
Izzy was devoted to her family and friends, and was considered "the rock" for her loved ones.
Isabel is survived by her children, Carol Brownell, Jean Gatena, Mary (Don) Myers, Dave (Pam) Brownell, Ron (Lisa) Brownell, and Jan (Richard) Byrd; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and her sister in law, Thelma Schlueter
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her son in law, Boomer Gatena; and five siblings.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Dubuque or Stonehill Care Center.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Stonehill Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for their kindness, love, and friendship during Izzy's stay.
