Isabel was born on October 7, 1954, to the late Benito and Maria Garcia in Lyford, Texas. As a family of migrant workers, they made their home in Plainview. Isabel attended Plainview schools. On May 24, 1969, she married Robert “Bobby” Rodriguez and together they had four daughters, Monica, Nancy, Kim, and Roberta. Isabel worked in various jobs and retired from the State of Texas in 2018. For many years, Isabel baked beautiful cakes and desserts for family, friends, and the community. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Isabel enjoyed traveling, the casinos, her red lipstick and red nails. Bobby and Isabel’s home was often called “Grand Central Station”, because everyone was always there. The only time they knew a guest showed up was when the doorbell rang, everyone else just knocked as they were walking in. Their home was full of love, food, and laughter, no matter the time of day or night, centered around the kitchen table. And when Isabel said “Girl” you knew what type of conversation was to be had by the tone of her voice. Most of all Isabel loved her family, she loved cooking and baking for them, celebrating anything and everything with them, and just being with them.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 ½ years, Robert “Bobby” Rodriguez, her parents Benito and Maria Garcia, two sisters Belinda Peña and Racquel Galvan, one brother Antonio Garcia, and father and mother-in-law Jose and Eriberta Rodriguez.
Those left to cherish her love and memory are four daughters: Monica Rodriguez, Nancy and husband Carlos Hinojosa, Kimberly Gallegos, Roberta and husband Isaac Rodriguez. Grandchildren: Joseph and wife Jessica Rodriguez - Garces, Matthew and wife Angelica Garces, Antonio Garces, Diego and wife Aaliyah Hinojosa, Jaiden Hinojosa, Alexandra Gallegos, Julia Gallegos, Bella Rodriguez, Elijah and wife Kathana Garibay, Erykah Rodriguez, Illeanna Rodriguez, and Urijah Garza.
