Vidal Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview, TX. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

A visitation will be held Monday, July 28th from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.

Rey was born on May 12, 1985 to Manuel & Rosa Rodriguez in Lockney, TX. He graduated from Plainview High School in 2004. He went on to receive his bachelors of business from Wayland Baptist University in 2009. In this same year he began his business “The Chick Magnet”. He took great pride in his work as a professional poultry man. His successful chicken business became more than a livelihood- it was a ministry that allowed him to connect with people from all over. He genuinely enjoyed building partnerships, often hatching specific type of fowl for customers. With the help of his parents and nieces they were carefully hatched, raised and sold. Together, they nurtured not only the flock but also a legacy of hard work, faith and love that will live on for generations.

Rey’s diagnosis with muscular dystrophy came early in his life. He lived everyday to its fullest and he never let it define him. An incredible testament to his strength and purpose, he surpassed expectancy living 27 years longer. He was blessed with the gift of extra time- time that he embraced with gratitude, humility and purpose. After facing significant health challenges, God granted him more years than expected. In that time, he deepened his relationship, shared his faith and poured his heart into people. He used that time to mentor others, leave a lasting legacy of kindness, and completed the work that mattered to him most.

He was deeply loved and cared for by his loving mother, Rosa, who always provided unwavering love and supernatural strength.

He served in ministry as a children’s pastor at Living Hope Church and most recently at Templo Sinai, both in Plainview. Rey’s ministry extended far beyond the walls of the church. His love for the Lord was evident in all he did. He was most passionate about leading children to the Lord and poured the love of Jesus in to each of them. He had a heart for teaching the word and leading Vacation Bible School.

Another one of Rey’s distinguished achievements was being a member of the Plainview chapter of Lions Club. He was a member for 15 years, where he served as the greeter and chaplain. He was a faithful and unwavering presence every Wednesday. He took great joy in being involved with every club event, always eager to serve and connect with his community.

The community mourns the loss of a man, whose presence brought light, service, and kindness to all around him. While his absence is deeply felt, his family takes comfort in knowing he has been welcomed into heaven, where he has received his complete healing and his faithful heart now finds eternal rest.

He leaves behind a legacy of love. He was the bravest lion.

He is preceded in death by, his great grandparents, Carlos & Virginia Arellano and Thomasita & Joel Rodriguez. Two brothers, Joel & Cruz Rodriguez.

He is survived by his parents Manuel & Rosa Rodriguez of Plainview, TX; his sister Ruth Gonzales & husband Gabriel of Plainview, TX; his brother, Vidal Rodriguez and his wife Ofelia of Columbus, GA, Abel Rodriguez, Amos Rodriguez & wife Diana and Aaron Rodriguez & wife Ashley all of Plainview; 15 nieces and nephews, 7 great nieces and nephews.
