Isabelle Mary "Issie" Jones

Isabelle Mary Carmody Jones (Issie), age 94, formally of Nevada and Zearing, Iowa, died on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society Pipestone Nursing Home in Pipestone, MN.
Issie was born on March 3, 1928, the 4th daughter of six girls born to Patrick & Margaret Peddicord Carmody. While performing in a high school play, she and Kenneth R. Jones (Kenny) noticed one another & began dating! After they both graduated from the Zearing High School, Issie went to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines to receive her R.N. degree, & Kenny went into the United States Marine Corp.
Following Issie's completion of her R.N. degree & Kenny's military service, they were married on April 19, 1949. Issie became a farmer's wife and mother, tending to the medical needs within the community, including private duty nursing, & volunteering at numerous events in the community. She was also an active member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Zearing. When her daughters left the home, Issie began working at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Zearing, tending to both her mother and mother-in-law prior to their passing as well as many others.
Ken & Issie eventually moved away from the farm to the Regency Retirement Residence on West 3rd Street in Nevada, Iowa. Issie was an active member of the Regency Retirement Residence Board for many years, and an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. When Ken passed away on December 21, 2006, Issie remained at the Regency Retirement Residence for several years until she moved to Sioux Falls, SD, for health reasons.
Issie will be remembered as an inspiration for younger women in the church for her energy, commitment to service, its people and the community. She was an inspiration to so many people and handled personal and medical challenges throughout her life with pure grace.
Issie is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah (Deb) and Thomas Lord of Sioux Falls, SD, and Deanne (Dee) and Mark Skeens of Eagan, MN, seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Barbara Hart of Sigourney, IA, Ardella Untrauer of Iowa City, IA, and Mary Lou Johnson of Ames, IA.
Issie was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Donna, in infancy; and two sisters, Verda Holveck of Nevada, IA, and Velma Sedlak of Costa Mesa. CA.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2023, at the Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church (1110 11th Street) in Nevada. Burial will be at the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing.
