Ismael Fernandez

Ismael Fernandez, a beloved father, family member, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at the age of 76. He was born on January 4, 1950, in Brownsville, TX, and throughout his life he was known for his strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

"Smiley" as he was known to everyone, was a man with a joyful spirit and a remarkable sense of humor. He was always smiling, always laughing, and had a special gift for bringing joy to everyone around him. Whether through a joke, a story, or simply his presence, he made people feel at ease and valued. Ismael created daily memories with whomever he spent time with, turning ordinary moments into ones that will be treasured forever.

Family meant everything to Ismael. He took great pride in providing for and supporting his loved ones, offering guidance, love, and a steady presence. His warmth, generosity, and positive spirit left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his children, Jesus Fernandez, Ismael Fernandez Jr., Maximilliano Fernandez, Veronica Maldonado, Bobby Fernandez, and Angelica Johnson; and his grandchildren, Elliot Fernandez, Anthony Fernandez, Esperanza Soto, Angelica Jaramillo, Elizabeth Fernandez, John Anthony Hernandez, Shawn Maldonado, Ashley Maldonado, Mateo Fernandez, Andrew Alanis, and Adrianna Garcia, brother Garbriel Fernandez, Leonel Fernandez, Sisters Maria Oralia Soto and Gudermina Soto; 36 great grandchildren, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his grandson Isaiah Fernandez, mother Eloisa and Father Enrigue Fernandez.
