Ismael “Benny” Ortiz, of Chimayo, NM, went home on October 08, 2024, at the age of 85.
He was preceded in death by his son’s Kenneth and Ryan, parents Simon and Emilia Ortiz, grandchild Andrew, 2 brother, 7 sister’s and numerous other relatives.
Benny is survived by his daughter Gina and son Isaac of Albuquerque, sister Flora, best friend Maria Salazar, grandchildren Sherri, Jimmy, Isaac Jr., Isaiah, Julian (Patricia) and Kenneth III (Pancho), Simon (Autumn), great-grandchildren Jeremiah, Kenneth IV, Julian Jr. Santiago, Ezekiel, and his only great granddaughter Eleanor, all whom he adored and loved very much. He is also survived by numerous Godchildren, nephews, nieces and friends.
Benny was owner of Lucky Seven Bar, Ortiz Pool Hall and Ortiz Construction; he was very well known for the pride he took in all his jobs. He loved gardening and enjoyed being with his animals and visiting numerous relatives and friends.
We would like to thank Heather Velarde who was like a daughter to him. We would also like to thank El Mirador Home Health Care and the Home health aides that cared for Benny during his time of illness.
A Mass will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 10:00 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, NM, with burial to follow at El Portrero Cemetery in Chimayo, NM
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Julian Sr., Kenneth III (Pancho), Simon Vaughn, Michael Ortiz, Harold Pacheco, and Jerry Jaramillo, Santiago, Ezekiel, Eleanor Vaughn Kenneth IV, Julian Jr., Jeremiah and Martin Martinez.
Honorary pallbearers are his great grandchildren.
