Ivan Jones Obituary

Ivan was born on August 22, 1943 in Peoria, IL to Gilbert W. and Eithel Cordelia (Nash) Jones. He married Christine Sue Reader on February 7, 1969 in Peoria, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Christine; his sister, Naomi Davis of Chillicothe; his sister-in-laws, Sharon Camper of East Peoria, IL and Ann Jones of Chillicothe, IL; his brother-in-law, Stephen (Cheryl) Reader of East Moline, IL and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded on death by his parents; his son, Ronald; his brother, Gilbert; and his sister, Bessie Hainline.
Ivan served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and owned and operated his own autobody. Ivan was very talented at automotive mechanics and he loved rebuilding classic cars.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 11am at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Rev. Ed Dutton will officiate. Memorials in Ivan's name may be made to the ARK in Lacon. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.

Mr. Jones was the one who introduced me to my love of cars, from being a child and hearing his war stories, to going over there for marshmallow cookies, to working on cars with him he´s not only been an influence on my life, but my career. I now am waiting to ship off to be a construction mechanic in the United States Navy and give all my regards to the man who severely impacted my life choices and my career. Not only is he a hero but a leader, some one who I would look forward to when coming in the alley of my house, to working on the car he sold me, to getting military advice. I will not let your legacy die. Your kids will know you as great grandpa and I will always remember you as Mr. Jones and my grandfather. I love you Mr jones. I hope you are up there with your son. I promise I will work on your car and get it done. Thank you for everything
