Ivan "Alex" Shoffner, a proud Army veteran and devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away Sunday, December 21st at the age of 27.

Alex was preceded in death by his father, Tom Shoffner; his maternal grandparents, Ertha and Curtis Babin; his paternal grandparents, Monica and Ivan Shoffner; and his uncles, Curtis and Glaise Babin.

He is deeply loved and will always be cherished by his mother, Rena Shoffner; his sister, Lacy Smith; his "step brother," Ryan Smith; and his beloved nephews, Miles and Luca Smith. Alex also leaves behind many extended family members, lifelong friends, military brothers, and his much-loved "fake" family-each holding a special place in his story.

Alex proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Through his service, he traveled extensively and embraced new experiences that shaped who he became. His dedication and professionalism were recognized with numerous honors, including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon.

A true craftsman at heart, Alex loved to build, fix, and tinker. He found satisfaction in working with his hands and was actively pursuing his plumbing license, always striving to improve himself and his future. He took pride in staying healthy through gym training-though he never missed a meal from the ever-reliable "Rena and Lacy's Kitchens."

Alex's sense of humor and playful spirit were unmistakable. He especially loved joking with and picking on his nephews, cherishing every moment spent wrestling, laughing, and simply being their uncle. Those moments of joy and connection will be remembered forever.

Alex lived with loyalty, determination, and a generous heart. His service, his craftsmanship, his laughter, and his love for family will remain a lasting legacy. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.

To honor Alex's life and legacy, a visitation will be held in Magnolia Chapel at Chauvin Funeral Home on December 29, 2025, at 9:00 am followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that those wanting to make donations do so to Camp Hope, a support facility for military service men and women.
