Ivar H Gundersen

Ivar H. Gundersen (1950-2024), formerly of northern New Jersey and a long-time resident of Colchester, Vermont, was a skilled and excellent carpenter. He was highly regarded for his one-of-a-kind builds, additions, and decks. He loved the outdoors, was an avid hiker, and kept active with all kinds of interests such as fishing, volleyball, PickleBall, skiing, and sailing his catamaran wherever the winds took him. He loved to travel and enjoyed adventures with friends to places like Norway, Alaska, Israel, the Western USA, and Europe.
Ivar was born on January 27th, 1950 in New York City, and Ivar flew home to his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 24th, 2024. He loved His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and Ivar shared his faith with others. He is remembered as a beloved brother and faithful friend.
Ivar was preceded in death by his father, Steinar Gundersen of Arendal, Norway (d. 2002), and his mother, Ester Kleiven Gundersen of Vigmostad, Norway (d. 2021). He is survived by his two sisters: Judy Groop and her husband Andy Groop of Quarryville, PA; Nancy Gundersen of Shokan, NY; his former spouse, Ruth Venema Gundersen, of Palmyra, PA; one niece, Rebecca Orlovsky & her husband Andrew Orlovsky and their children: John Steinar (Jack), Hawken Andrew, Lillian Ester, and Elizabeth Marie, and one more great-nephew on the way; and, his nephew, Andrew J. (AJ) Groop, as well as family in both the USA and Norway, and many devoted friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held to honor & remember Ivar's life on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 at 2pm at:

Extended family and friends are invited to join Ivar's family for light refreshments immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ivar's name to the Camper Scholarship fund at Camp Spofford. ( www.campspofford.org )
