Ivonete Leite Obituary

Ivonete Maria Leite

June 22, 1942 - December 7, 2024

Key Biscayne, Florida - It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Ivonete Maria Leite after a wearying waltz with neuroendocrine cancer. Ivonete passed peacefully with her two nieces by her side at Vitas Healthcare in Miami, Florida on December 7, 2024. Born in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brazil and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Ivonete, earned a law degree at Candido Mendes University in Rio. She started a brilliant career at Citibank, first in Rio and later in New York City, becoming the first female Brazilian Vice-President at 38. After retirement from the financial world, Ivonete moved to Key Biscayne, Florida, where she became a talented and awarded photographer. In 2023, she achieved her legacy dream with the publishing of her coffee table photo book, "Kiriri". An icon in the Brazilian community, in Miami and afar, Ivonete was revered by all who knew her for her insatiable desire to discover new horizons, indomitable determination and passion in the support for all art forms. A devoted daughter, who incessantly provided and cared for her mother until she passed earlier this year at the age of 99, Ivonete is survived by her sister, Ivonea Moura, her two nieces, Bianca and Alessandra Moura and grand nephews and nieces. Our profound condolences to all those fortunate to have known and loved our brilliant Ivonete, who will live in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers, please make donations, in her name, to the Cleveland Orchestra, at www.clevelandorchestra.com/donate, an organization close to Ivonete's heart.

I had the privilege of meeting Ivonete at Citibank and later we were neighbors in Key Biscayne. She was such a lively woman that she left a lasting impression on me forever. She was a role model for all of us around her and she will be greatly missed. Rest in peace.

I am so sad to learn that Ivonete passed away. What an amazing life she lived! She was a gentle force, on her own path.
We met through Citibank. We shared a common enthusiasm for orchestral music. In fact she became a patron and supporter of our local community orchestra for many years in addition to her support of other music organizations around town.
Her deep dive into photography was amazing to see! She wanted to learn!
Being around her made me feel good. She was a lovely person, one to emulate.
Thank you to those nieces who helped care for her at the end of her life. No doubt she loved you. To her sister, I am so sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry that I just learned of Ivonete´s passing. I met ivonete in New York in 1979 when she took over my job in Financial Institutions at Citibank. We became friends and that friendship endured throughout our lives. The last time I saw her was in April 2023 when we got together at August´s home and then I spoke to her when she had just found out about this devastating cancer. My deepest condolences to her family that was so dear to her. Rest in peace my friend, you will always have a place in my heart.
