Ivy Coleman Sr., affectionately known as "IceBox" and "Bruh," passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025, at St. Joseph Carpenter House. He was a remarkable man whose kind spirit and gentle smile left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
For many years, Ivy dedicated himself to his work at the Uniroyal Chemical Plant. Ivy earned a reputation as a resourceful mechanic, capable of fixing anything, particularly automobiles. His skillfulness was matched only by his zest for life; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling, often seeking adventure and excitement at the casino. But above all, Ivy cherished his family, relishing the moments spent with his beloved wife, Linda Kaufman Coleman, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A true musician at heart, Ivy found joy in strumming his guitar, sharing melodies that created lasting memories. He leaves behind not only a loving wife but also a cherished legacy through his children: Linda Coleman Thomas (Keith), Ivy Coleman Jr. (Tasha), Katina Rogers (Donald), Angela Paul, Arlene Coleman, and Ivy Carr (Clovis). His vibrant spirit will also be missed by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as four sisters, Rose Gardner (George), Dorothy Gibbs, Sarah Ann Day, Patricia Dupas, and Caretha Pidgeon, and three brothers, David Coleman, Ricky Coleman, and Joe Coleman (Latrice), and a host of other relatives and friends.
Ivy was preceded in death by his parents, Sonnie and Anna Dunn, as well as two sisters, three brothers, and two beloved grandchildren. His absence will be felt deeply by all his family, friends, and the community that came to admire him throughout his life.
Join us in celebrating Ivy’s remarkable life at his funeral, scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025. The viewing will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by the service at 10:00 AM at Resting Place Funeral Home. Ivy Coleman Sr. will forever remain in our hearts, a symbol of love, strength, and family.
