Lincolnton - Mr. J. D. Cogdill, Jr., 60, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Atrium Health - Cleveland in Shelby.

J.D. was born on April 5, 1965 in Newport, Tennessee a son of the late J. D. Cogdill, Sr. and Edna Mae Cashen Cogdill. He was a local driver for International Express in Gastonia. J.D. attended The Freewill Church of Jesus Christ in Gastonia.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Darren Cogdill and a granddaughter, Savannah Patterson.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Angela Cogdill of the home; a daughter, April Cogdill (Jermaine Smith) of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Jacob, Jeremiah and Adrianna Patterson; two sisters, Tammy Whitworth of Cherryville; Sherry Ward of Waco; two brothers, Darrell Cogdill of Waco and Jay Harold Cogdill of Lincolnton.

The family will receive friends from 11:45AM to 12:45PM on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Chapman officiating.

Burial will be private.

Memorials may be made to The Freewill Church of Jesus Christ, 144 Hamrick Road, Gastonia, NC 28056 or to the donor's choice.
