J.D. McFarlin, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on September 19, 2025, at the age of 90, in Cushing, Oklahoma. Born on December 20, 1934, in Yale, Oklahoma, to Alice and Emory McFarlin, J.D. was a man of integrity, warmth, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.

After graduating from Yale High School in 1953, J.D. embarked on a lifetime of service and commitment. His journey began as he married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Bingaman. Their loving union stood the test of time, flourishing over 74 wonderful years. Together, they raised two daughters, Sheila and Shaneen, and delighted in the joys of their granddaughter, Olivia Gibble. J.D. was a beloved uncle to his nieces, Debi Gripe, Cindi Hudgins, Linda Majors, and Cindy Broggen, who will all hold dear memories of him.

J.D.'s call to service extended beyond his family life when he joined the United States Army, serving his country with honor in Germany. Following his military career, J.D. dedicated 20 years to law enforcement. His tenure culminated in his well-respected role as the Chief of Police in Cushing, where his leadership and dedication to justice were evident to all who knew him.

An avid Oklahoma State fan, J.D.'s enthusiasm for his team was contagious. When he wasn't cheering on his favorite athletes, he could be found enjoying the tranquil pleasures of fishing. His love for music enriched many lives as he played guitar not only in a band but also brought joy to the local senior citizens at the Cushing Senior Citizens Center with his performances.

J.D. McFarlin was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Emory McFarlin, his brothers, Howard and Roy McFarlin, and his son-in-law, John W. Martin. His life was a testament to the virtues of family, service, and community, and his legacy will continue to resonate through those he touched.

As we bid farewell to J.D., we celebrate the fullness of his life and the precious moments we shared with him. His light will forever shine in the hearts of his loved ones who find comfort in the knowledge that his life was lived with purpose and joy.
