J. Dely Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Meeks Mortuary & Crematory - Washington Street Chapel on Jun. 21, 2022.
Muncie - On June 17, 2022, the world stopped. The life of Joseph "Evan" McCarley Dely was senselessly taken by a distracted driver whose cellphone was more important than the lives of other drivers on I-465 that morning. At 3:46 AM, Evan Dely's heart stopped beating, and his mother's heart was shattered into a million pieces. For the family of Evan Dely, the world has stopped, and it will never be the same again.
Evan came into this world on a beautiful, sunny afternoon on August 10, 1990. For 31 years, he has been the light of his mother's eyes. He is the beloved son to Christine (Corn) Dely-Stinson and Jon Stinson. Evan was the only sibling and brother to his sister, Maggie Dely. The two were the dynamic duo - the Ying and the Yang. Maggie will now navigate the rest of her life without her only brother, without her closest ally, without her â??big guy'. Evan was also blessed to have step siblings, Tyler Stinson and Kelsie Campes. He was on his way to visit his step brother in Colorado when the world stopped.
While in school, Evan was a member of the Delta High School wrestling team and the Delta High School football team. It was as a football player that Evan shared the field with his cousin, Chubs, and the two did battle while their mothers rang the cowbell in the stands. Andâ?¦there was always a need for â??more cowbell'.
It was also during his time in school that Evan formed many enduring friendships that have lasted throughout his entire life. His friends have seen him through many phases of his life, and Evan would want each and every one of you to know how very important and cherished you have been to him in his life. Thank you so much for being there for Evan.
When his childhood dream of growing up to become a raccoon did not come to fruition, Evan decided to pursue a career in the United States Air Force. He served honorably from 2009 to 2018. His incredible intelligence was utilized as an Air Force Linguist. He was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force. He and his family are very proud of his service.
Evan is survived by his parents, Christine Dely-Stinson and Jon Stinson, his sister, Maggie Dely, beloved nephew, Maddox Oxley, step-brother, Tyler Stinson (Megan), and step-sister, Kelsie Campes (Edgar). He is also survived by his aunt, Mary Anne Corn, and her children, who were more like siblings than cousins, Ethan â??Chubs' Crystal (Deana), Olivia Carrington (Joshua), and Avery Haisley (Megan). Also surviving is his aunt Sarah Corn-Beach and uncle Jacob Corn (Ashley). He is also survived by his maternal grandparents Margaret (Sharp) Colsten and Michael Corn.
He will be missed by several other cousins, multiple friends, and family members. Choncho, Evan's beloved french bulldog, will continue to be cherished as a living memory of the adventures the two of them shared together.
Finally, Evan was an avid gamer. He truly enjoyed his time online and he enjoyed the gaming community. As his final sign offâ?¦.Jedex has gone offline.
Calling hours and memorial service will be held at Meeks Mortuary on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 12 PM to 3 PM. There will be full military honors held at 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the American Kidney Foundation to help in the research to find a cure for IgA nephropathy.
The family of Evan Dely would like to ask that in memory of our precious Evan that you invest in a cellphone holder for your car and to not use your cell phone while driving. If this tragedy can in any way prevent another family from enduring the agony of a senseless death, Evan's death will not have been in vain.
The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel will handle arrangements and online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.meeksmortuary.com.
