J'Lynn Bernice Proctor

J'Lynn was born in Abilene, Texas on April 28, 1950. She was a true West Texas girl. She loved the outdoors, horses, dogs, and spending time with friends. She was the "it" girl that all the guys wanted to date. After high school she headed off to Texas Tech where she made lifetime friends including her beloved sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. The Zetas continued their strong bond throughout her life.

After college, she moved to Dallas for her first "real" job working at Love Field for a rental car company. It wasn't long before Houston came calling. It was there that she began a long career in home remodeling and design.

J'Lynn loved buying, selling, and remodeling homes. She created beautiful homes in Houston, Winedale, Galveston, Ruidoso, and finally, La Grange. She loved sharing them with family and friends (especially her Bridge Club ladies). "Bridge Club" became a close-knit group of women that shared their lives together for over 30 years.

J'Lynn could fix or repair almost anything. One of her prized possessions was her "work bench" with all the tools you would ever want. She loved gardening, antiques, road trips, cooking (especially tacos), and watching Grit TV including every John Wayne movie ever made.

J'Lynn was a soft voice and kind spirit with a steel backbone. She was her mother's daughter-giving, kind-hearted, creative, and spiritual. She was always the nicest person in the room.

J'Lynn is survived by Dovie Morgan, her dear friend and partner for over 40 years. Sisters-in-law, Janie Proctor and Cherry Proctor. Loving nephews and their wives: David & Cindy Proctor, Willam & Shannon Jenn, Matt & Leslie Proctor, Mark & Susan Proctor, & many wonderful great nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held March 11 at 1:30 at Fritsch Auf Valley Country Club

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Shaggy Dog Rescue of Houston, Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter in La Grange, or St. Judes Children's Hospital.
