J. Peeples Obituary
He was a native of Jacksonville, born on November 8, 1936 and son of the late Joseph Robert Peeples and Peen Louise Mixson Peeples. He was a 1956 graduate of Andrew Jackson High School and a 1963 graduate of Gupton-Jones College Dallas Institute. Robert met the love of his life, Joyce Marie Pearson and they married on June 28, 1958. He always referred to her as his "Sweetypie". He was a charter member of North Jacksonville Church of God. Robert began his funeral service career at the age of 13, washing cars at Key-McCabe Funeral Home on Main Street. He would later earn a full time job and became one of the managers. Robert moved to Dallas in 1961 and said they sold everything to move and attended mortuary college. He brought his bride and daughter back to Jacksonville in December 1962 and returned to Dallas, where he graduated on March 3, 1963. In November 1968, they felt the call to build a business/ministry, Peeples Funeral Home, which is still independently owned and operated by the Peeples Family and Team. Robert has been a member of many civic and industry associations.
Preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Gladys Mixson and Barbara "Bobbie" Tuten and brothers, Douglas MacArthur "Doug" Peeples and Jessie Everette Peeples. Surviving family include 2 daughters: Patti Center (Jordan) and Jill Peeples; 3 grandsons: Benjamin (Jessica), Daniel (Erin) and Joshua (Desiree) Center; 2 great grandsons: Teddy & Sammy and a great granddaughter due on Feb. 14, 2026; many nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
Celebration of life service will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday, February 9, 2026 at North Jacksonville Baptist Church, 8531 N. Main Street with Rev. Chris A. Coram and Rev. James Hull, officiating.
Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM and following the service.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the J. Robert Peeples, Jr. Scholarship Fund
Peeples Family Funeral Home is serving.

Life changes in an instance, and though you are well equipped in this knowledge, when it hits this close to home I know it feels different.
