J.W. Howard, 86, of White Hall, was reunited with the love of his life, Fran, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, with family by his side at White Hall Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born January 26, 1939 in White Hall, the son of James William Howard and Thera Styer Singleton. He married Fran Dunham on June 5, 1964 in White Hall and she preceded in death on April 7, 2021.

He is survived by his by his children, Kerri (Donnie) Hull of Roodhouse, Scott (Karen) Howard of Troy, Kelly (Jim Bob) Arnold of Roodhouse, and Brandon Howard (Suzanne Hutton) of Chatham; 11 grandchildren, Ashleigh (Willie) Smutz, Allie (Carter) Cox, Ambrea (Alex) Reilman, Jake Hull, Arika Hull (Logan Ross), Zac Howard, Brenae Howard, Jake Howard, Jaycey Arnold, Chloe Howard and Macey Howard; 9 great-grandchildren, Chaleigh Smutz, Weston Smutz, Everleigh Smutz, Nash Cox, Mira Cox, Ayla Cox, Harper Reilman, Shiloh Reilman and River Ross. He was preceded in death by his sister, Karen (Charles) Meador and step-brother, Bill Howard.

J.W. retired from the City of White Hall as Utility Superintendent after many years of service. He was a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. J.W. was the life of many parties and the punchline of countless stories which have been told and retold many times with laughter and love. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events. He enjoyed working in his yard and gardening.

The family will greet friends and share memories from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Gentle Shepherd Fellowship in White Hall. A private family event will follow immediately thereafter. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of J.W.'s lifelong commitment to the White Hall community, the family requests that any memorial donations be made to the White Hall Park Board or the White Hall Library Board.
